Inclusive Leadership
I will listen to everyone, regardless of party or ideology — but I will never compromise on values of equality, inclusion, and basic human dignity.
A City That Listens
Common ground without compromising core values
Ward 5 is home to people from every political background — Democrats, Republicans, independents, socialists, and those who are simply tired of labels. As your City Councilor, I will represent all of you. I will listen, learn, and seek common ground wherever possible — because city government should serve everyone, not just those who agree on every issue.
But let me be clear: there is no room in public life for racism, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, or any form of hate. I will not engage with or legitimize views that deny the dignity or humanity of our neighbors. Listening to everyone does not mean accepting everything.
A Five-Point Commitment to Inclusive Leadership
1. Open Dialogue Across Difference
I will host regular listening sessions, neighborhood meetups, and town halls — with the explicit goal of hearing from people with diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences. Not every conversation has to end in agreement, but it should start with respect.
2. No Room for Hate
There are lines I will not cross. I will not platform or legitimize bigotry in any form. Disagreement is healthy — dehumanization is not. This campaign and this office will remain grounded in values of equity, inclusion, and human dignity.
3. Find Common Ground Where It Exists
I believe in building coalitions around shared goals — safer streets, better schools, affordable housing, responsive government. I will work with anyone, regardless of ideology, to get results for Ward 5 residents.
4. Bridge the Political Divide Locally
Many of the divisions we see nationally start in small, local misunderstandings. I will actively work to create space for constructive civic engagement — including issue-based working groups, community forums, and cross-neighborhood partnerships that focus on solving problems, not scoring points.
5. Govern With Integrity, Not Popularity
I will not take every side or tell people what they want to hear. My job is to listen honestly, weigh the facts, and lead with principle. That means making hard decisions — and explaining them clearly, even when we disagree.
My Commitment
I will always listen. I will always respect your voice. But I will not sacrifice my values to win arguments or avoid conflict. Ward 5 deserves leadership that brings people together — without giving in to hate, fear, or extremism.
